I have developed and am maintaining more than 10 websites at the moment. Both my own websites and client’s websites.
During the last 1.5 year as I started developing wordpress sites, I have used Siteground, Hostgator, Godaddy and Vodien (Singapore based) for hosting.
What I define as best would be based on the following factors:
- Quality of support
- Site speed
My sharing below will be based on my Siteground hosting experience:
So far, sites have been up 99% of the time. There were 2 occasions which I experienced server hardware issues that caused sites to be down for 1–2 hours. Support was there to update on the progress throughout the ordeal. This showed that they were on to the problem and actively resolving it.
By far the best hosting support I have experienced. Support provided usually via chat, which is a good method for me. Chat support connects very quickly for crucial issues. Support tickets will be provided when followup is required by the technical team. At times, the support I required goes beyond the scope of their service and they were still able to assist me; for which I am grateful for.
Site speed is decent and probably one of the fastest wordpress hosting you can find. They have inbuilt static and dynamic cache on server level. This can easily be purged by the admin on cpanel.
All in all, if you are looking to host your wordpress site in 2018, Siteground is probably the safest bet and easiest one to get on.
Take my word for it as I have seen and encounter hosting providers that are FAR worst.
Having said that, I hope Siteground continues to provide the high quality service and support amidst their growing business.
At times many hosting companies fail to maintain their level of support when their business booms. This clearly leads them towards a downhill path in their business.
